Life as of today

I haven't posted on this blog in a few days. That is a problem I have, not sticking to things that I want to do. Since this is a new year for a "fresh start," (very cliche), that's something I need to avoid, so here I am.

Today I am having plans with my best friend, or my boyfriend, boo. We see each other maybe once a week, at the most two days a week, because we live about 45 mins to an hour away from each other. We are going out to eat (bad for my 25 under 25 diet plan), but good for us since we have to figure out a new time arrangement because of my new job and the new classes that I have this semester.

I am also trying to find time to study, since 2 out of the 3 classes I am taking this semester are online. One is statistics...ugh. lol. I had planned to study all day yesterday, but a friends belated birthday lunch came up and I didn't want to miss the celebration. It was a good time. The three of us girls went to eat, and after me and the birthday girl decided to hit a coffee joint afterward. And that leaded to hanging out all night with her and her relatives, that I had only briefly met before from a previous outing. Her family was nice, I felt very akward at first, I kind of felt like my friend invited me and herself to their house.
But after that they made me feel warm and welcome which is new for me with older people who are married, with kids, and homeowner association fees. While we were at their house they had a couple come over with their little girl. The woman was very nice, toned, and just a fun person to be around. She had everything about her made into perfection. Usually I shy away from people like this because of my own insecurities. I feel like I don't belong to people like this because I don't really associate myself with people like that.
I would love to, don't get me wrong, but I've just never been around people like this to the point where we have dinner parties, hung out, gone out for drinks. I don't do stuff like that. Am I homebody? Maybe. But I had such a good time I really hoped that they would be my new BFF's. I've never had a group of friends to call my girls. I have a friend here, an acquantance there, never having a chance to bring anyone together. I did a friend request on facebook for the relative of the woman I know, I couldn't find her friend, but I hope this evolves into something more.

When my friend asked me if it was ok to go over their house, I said sure! When she asked me if I had to be home at a certain time I said No!, don't worry about it. Did I want to go to their house at that time? No! Did I have to be home at a certain time? Yes! For some reason I have trouble saying no to people. I told my boo this and he disagreed, since I am always saying no to him... But at least I don't regret going over there yesterday, when my friend asked, I thought it would be a good networking opportunity, maybe some of them, knew someone that could set me up with a job interview or something. But we had girl talk, tons of laughs, and martini's. But enough about this for now.

My new job: I started the job on Thursday, I was really anxious and worried. They are having me follow an experienced nursing assistant which has been really great so far. She tells me the scoop, what everyone is like, expectations of the job, how to handle different situations which is nice. The only thing that sucks is that she smokes and I follow her around all day, even during her cigarette breaks which sucks because it makes me want to have a cigarette, but I am proud to say, I have not asked, nor been offered for a cigarette. I even told her that I couldn't go on the breaks with her because it makes me want a cigarette. So kuddo's to me. My boo doesn't like smokers, I did have one yesterday at lunch with the other girl that was celebrating the b-day for our friend too. But those are just minor details that boo doesn't need to know. But anyway, I really thought the job would be unbarable, but it isn't quite as bad as I thought. It actually makes me want to finish school so I can get paid more and not have to lift such heavy people and wipe poop off of people, but no where will I be able to find a job that pays more than this. I would love to work at the call center that I worked at previously but they haven't called me since I have applied. Maybe when I am done with my AA (in May), they will find me better suited. I don't know.

Everything is in the air for life. There are many ways to go, many field's to work in, and a long way to go, but at least I am working on something to have the life I want. I may not be able to have a Lexus SUV and a bemmer like that woman that I hung out with yesterday, with the huge house, huge bling, and fake nails and eyebrows. But I know that I will get further and further along in my life. I do need to apologize to boo today when I see him. I started crying last night on the phone becuase he said it was weird I was hanging out with an older person (the birthday girl), and I just balled because he pointed that out and I started feeling like a loser. I started hanging out with her because I don't really know anyone in the area. She is nice and we get along, and so far have had only good encounters. We went to the movies one night. Then we met up with our other friend, the smoker, for coffee, and yesterday we went to lunch for the b-day girl. I would rather, be out, be around people, having someone to talk to than staying at home with my parents. So I just told him that I wasn't happy, that I didn't have any friends that want to spend time with me (except for one) and him. He tried to make me feel better by saying that I have my D (my little girl), and him, who drives an hour away, sometimes twice a week, with a car with no air conditioning. So I feel bad for making him think that what he does is not enough, (I said I hate my life, or something like that). It's not him, its everything else. Basically the stuff I can't controll. I can't force people to be friends with me. I can't make my boyfriend get a great job so we can move in together and be a family. So that is why I take xanax.. sometimes. It's a prescription, by the way. Over the summer I was really depressed because of my living situation and being unemployed, so the dr. gave me xanax.

Paging nurse Betty!

Today is my first day at work! I actually have to leave in 30 minutes for the hour long trip to the other side of the Bay. Very, very anxious! I really hope I will be able to stand looking at naked people, and cleaning them. I just am looking forward to finally having money in my bank account. I'm not sure how I will be able to study, with my D always wanting to play, and I'm going to put my boo on hold. But I'm hoping there are a couple times we can go on a date, instead of the usual spending the whole day at someones house.
*
My shift is until 11pm so I will be coming home late. It will be a little hard with having to take D to school after those late shifts, but I'm determined to make it work. I'm planning on eating pb&j for dinner, maybe a soup on the go type thing. I'm also bringing oatmeal to keep me satisfied and not worrying about food. I know that working this shift and in this area will make me lose weight! I just wish I have a pedometer to see how many steps I'm taking working in a rehab medical center. Phewww! Well, off to make food and coffee. I hope the 4 cups on coffee that fit in my mug wont kill my weight lose plan, 25 before 25. My boo thinks its its a rediculous name, but oh well.

Elementary School Dilemma

Today was a good day! I picked up my D from school and we went straight to the library. That is usually what's on our list of things to do for after school. It's either that, or go to the playground, bookstore, ice cream. I have half the week with my D and I want to make sure I build lasting memories with her which can be hard with work, school, studying, and my boo.

*
The reason I wanted to go to the library was because I wanted to print out the school of choice form that is due soon. Since D's dad lives in the next city over, we gravitated toward a school in the middle so it would be convenient for everyone...which sucks. But, anyway, while we were at the library one of D's classmates was there, so she got to play with him and was busy while I completed the application. Turns out the application was electronic which was both great and scary at the same time.
*

The reason filling out the application was scary was because I was hoping to put D in a closer school to my house. D's dad has other people, such as, his mom and grandmother that drive and pick her up from school. When she is at my house, I either have to do the driving, or my parents do. I don't mind driving for school at all, it's just my parents have one car. So in order for them to pick up D, they would first have to drive my dad to work, which is 13 miles one way, and then drive back home because its in the middle of the pre-k D goes to and then drive the 13 miles to her school there and back, and then pick up my dad from work!!! It's flipping insane!!!
*

When I was typing in the school we chose I was really lingering at the thought of just writing in another school that is just a little bit closer to me but is still out of the school boundary... I don't know what to do. No matter where D goes, she will not be eligible to take the school bus, which sucks. Blah! I'm still trying to rationalize whether or not I should try to find a way to change the school on the form and just tell D's dad that the school was full. But I don't want to lie, and he isn't stupid either.
*
Another thing that we did at the library was buy 25 cent magazines and children books! What is better than buying a magazine for a quarter? It's an old magazine, but that is something that I don't mind because I stopped buying magazines when I noticed it just made the bill go higher, and magazines are almost more expensive than most of the food I buy.

*
I am worried a little about tomorrow, or I guess later today. I start work at 2 and haven't been able to find the right scrub color. After the library, me and D went to Walmart for the scrubs and found indigo which looked like it could pass for navy, because the human resources office really emphasized navy, when telling me what color to buy the scrubs in. I buy the scrubs and call this girl that I know who has worked at the medical center for a while, and she tells me that it has to be navy! Crap! So after I drive D to school tomorrow, I am going to have to return the scrubs to Walmart and find another place that has navy scrubs. I really thought Walmart would have them.. oh well.

So! Today is a new and busy busy day. Today I get to pick up my daughter from pre-k because she was at her dads house since Saturday. It's my turn this week for the short week since we split custody 50/50. I live about 20 mins away from her school and probably will have to get gas on my way because my car is used by my mom because my dad has one car.
*
I dont have a lot of time, but so much on my mind. I still need to shower, get dressed, get my d's drink and snack ready so we can go to the library and the park afterwards. After that, when we get home, I have to make lunch and hopefully manage some time to read a chapter for my science class, and get online before I head to that class for an online class that I need to be online on video chat.
*
Our custody arrangement is both good and bad at times. It's good because I get time to myself to study or relax at the bookstore or meet friends for coffee. I'm a homebody though... But our custody arrangement can be bad because after she leaves, I dont know what to do with myself, so usually I just mope around, doing nothing, or study like crazy. But whatever I'm doing, I end up alone at night, and alone in bed. My D has her own room but we share the same bed. I actually look forward to going to bed with D.
*
Tomorrow I start my new job which is about an hour away. Very scared! My car isn't the most reliable transportation, and the work is kind of well...dirty. I'm going to be working in a medical center for the....older generation. I became a cna over the summer because my plan was to become an RN, so I figured since I was unemployed, that it would be easy to find a job, and would be worth the experience.
*
Well, now I don't know if I want to go to nursing school. I agunize about this daily, which is also another reason why I started this blog. I'm hoping through writing I can pin point what I really want to do with my life. I am also hoping with this job I can see whether or not I can stand the medical field. I'm scared. I dont want to worry about this anymore! I just want a career! I want to have my own place (since I split with my hubby, I have lived with my 'rents), have a reliable car, and just live, travel, love, and be happy.
*
When I was with my hubby I was an education major, so teaching is always an option, I have also thought about accounting. I have never taken an accounting class, but I feel the field is better than just getting a business degree, and I like numbers, I like math. Maybe I should become a math teacher! lol. This is difficult. But I really enjoy science, maybe a science teacher? See! I'm crazy.
*
Sometimes I try to not worry about it by thinking this semester just started and and I have until May to figure out what I'm doing. But really I don't because I have to study for the nursing program entrance exam. Ahh! I need help!

Life Unexpected

Life, the twists and turns it brings.
I need a change! I am turning 25 this year and since I am not where I want to be in my life at this point, I want to get it as close to my personal best as I can. My goals for this year is to:
  1. Lose weight
  2. Stop procrastinating
  3. Save money
  4. Get out of debt
  5. Figure out what I want to do in my life
  6. Just have a better year then 2009
  7. Become a stronger and more independent woman!

I watched the second episode of Life Unexpected with one of my favorite actors, Liz from Roswell or Shiri Appleby. The show started showing Shiri running along a lake in the morning... something I have always seen myself doing. Yet, here are the problems, I dont work out, my tummy jiggles just from walking, so I can't imagine the akward feeling of running, and running isn't really my style.

I lived in Germany a portion of my child and teenage life and have enjoyed the continuous use of cycles. I have gone through stints where I would go to the gym and cycle everyday, I even started jogging, but everything lasts for a short time, and I am back to square one.

Can I ever be like Shiri's character? What is the rest of her character all about? Here is some info: Her character is a successful radio morning show host who turns out to have gotten pregnant at 16 and given the baby up for adoption.

Suddenly her daughter who she has never heard of since comes to her and the biological father to receive their signatures so she can become emancipated from the foster care system.

In the first episode both parents are reluctant to accept the fact that their daughter whom they thought was placed with a great family after child birth, is back and seem unwilling to care about her emancipation. Well, Liz learns she needs to grow up and goes to the hearing in court and eventually gets placed with 50% custody of her daughter, sharing the other 50% with the biological father, which has also been absent since their one time fling.

Just like this character's life, mine has had it's ups and downs. I find myself trying to become something better, to grow up and clean the clutter out of my life, which includes not procrastinating (which I am doing right now, losing weight (my goal is to lose 25 before I'm 25, which is an awesome program name if I do say myself), and getting out of debt, among some other things. I feel this blog will help keep me on track and be an outlet to vent about life.
